Today’s post is a picture of the day. Recent, in Toronto. 24mm on a 1Ds MkIII full frame camera. 1/60, f/5.6, 400 ISO.
In photos, it is important to think about foreground and background, and the interaction between them and between them and the viewer. Normally, background people should not look into the camera. But I think it worked for me here!
The “One Way” sign pointing at the man’s head is either inspired or unfortunate depending on your POV.
Do you agree with purist Chris Weeks that true street photography must be B&W and shot on film with a rangefinder Leica?
I’ve pondered on his arguments at http://bkkphotographer.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/great-quotes/
What’s your take on the great debate?
I think in “street”, that sign is a good thing.
I use a 50mm lens or a 35mm lens for this type of photo. I prefer SLRs to smaller cameras though of course I would not say “no” to a $9,500 Leica. I’ll leave some more views on your log about this.
